Visiting Italy

Our final students’ exchange led all the teams high up onto the high plateau of Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna, the area of our Italian partners. Getting to Trento by train was easy, but reaching the highland by bus on very narrow and twisting roads took some of us by surprise. All our students stayed with host families in the various villages and hamlets and could enjoy great hospitality. The beautiful programme included a music workshop to prepare our project song, guided tours through the school buildings and county hall, snowtubing or an art workshop where the students learned how to make keyrings out of forks. We spent one day in Trento, climbing different routes at an indoor climbing hall and visiting the museum of sciences “Muse”. The treasure hunt in mixed groups, the sports activities in the gym at the school in Folgaria and of course the party on Friday evening were highlights of the week. On Saturday we went to Luserna, even higher up in the mountains,  to get a glimpse of the Cimbrian culture and language and to join their annual festival of “Vorprennen in Martzo” watching the huge bonfire to drive away the long and cold winter.
